Prayer Letter - New Guinea
News
May 15, 2002
The tiny islands off the south coast
of New Britain had been
resistant to the missionaries for many years. Now they are inviting
them to come teach and share the Gospel. You can have a chance to
be involved by praying for the Kauptumate island village. These
people have been strongly influenced by Catholicism and have not
wanted to listen to Paul Wolff, a missionary there who has learned
their language. God has softened their hearts now and they want to
hear. Pray that they will hear the Good News to its completion and
that God will be glorified.
Elsewhere on
New Britain in PNG, Giaman, a New
Guinea believer is reaching out and teaching his own people. The
Henleys have now moved out of the tribe and are focusing on
completing the New Testament Bible translation. However, God is
using Giaman as he is faithful to teach the Word.
Most of the time we give you updates
about ourselves, but we wanted to let you know about the works of
some other missionaries in our region. God is at work!
We have been given the opportunity to
go back to the USA for
a few weeks. Aaron’s brother’s wedding is Saturday, May 25, and
Lori’s brother graduates from High School May 26. Our tickets have
been purchased for us and we are set to go. We leave PNG on May 16
and get back June 7. We are looking forward to celebrating these
events with our families. We also have the opportunity to share in
two churches, as well as squeeze in a few medical appointments.
Thank you for your prayers as we travel and enjoy some time with
family and friends.
For His Glory,
Aaron, Lori, and Avalon
