Prayer Letter - New Guinea
News
March 3, 2002
riends and Family,
Friends and
Family,

Can you guess what this New Guinea carving is and what it is used
for?
Six days, two
tribes, several villages, lots of canned fish and rice, and a good
pair of hiking shoes! Monday the fourth of March, I (Aaron) leave
Hoskins, Papua New Guinea for my first official “Survey” into a
tribal location. I, along with three other men in orientation and
two men on leadership will, by combination of flying, trucking, and
hiking, be visiting two different people groups.
A ‘survey’ is the
term we use when we refer to going into a tribe where missionaries
are not presently located to gather information with the intent of
possibly moving into that tribe. Some of the information we will be
trying to gather is: info about their language, who their “Big Men”
are, how many villages there are, their receptiveness to us, their
interest in hearing God’s Talk in their own language, and other
facts. The first tribe we will visit is located on the island of
New Ireland about ¾ of the way to the top. The other tribe is
located on East New Britain (we are now in West New Britain, the
other side of the island). Our desire is that God will use this
time to open doors and give clear direction as to the tribe He wants
us to work among.
Please be in
prayer for myself and the other men who are going that we would
communicate what is needed to be said clearly in the trade
language. Pray for safety and wisdom in going into different
villages and talking with different “Big Men.” Also, pray for me
and Lori, that we will “wait on the Lord,” but move when He wants us
to go!
For eternity,
Aaron, Lori, and
Avalon
